Tyler Schiller is banking on the combination of a distance rise and experience to help two-year-old Parisest Magic get the first half of her race right when she lines up for her second start at Rosehill.

The filly struggled to keep in touch with the field on debut at Gosford before finally tacking on near the home turn and unleashing a surprising late charge to finish third to subsequent stakes winner I Am Dirty.

Schiller has stuck with her for Saturday's Bookmakers Recognition Day Handicap (1300m) and says she only needs to repeat that effort to put herself in the finish.

"She was very green. She was one trial into a start, and she didn't really know what race pace was," Schiller said.

"The race was run at a quick enough tempo that she should have been chasing, but not twelve lengths off them, and the rest of the field could travel satisfactorily, so I couldn't really give much as to why she couldn't tack on early.

"I'm hoping up to 1300 she can put herself a bit closer. If she finishes off the way she did there she will be a good chance."

Parisest Magic is prepared by young Hawkesbury-based trainer Alexandre Lemarie and was a bargain Inglis Classic Sale buy at just $9000.

While she is untested on heavy ground, her sire Prague was adept in the wet and finished runner-up in the 2020 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes in testing conditions.

From barrier four and stepping up 100m in journey, Schiller expects Parisest Magic to make her presence felt.

"She's a handy enough filly, so it will be interesting to see what she does on the weekend," he said.

"If she can come out and run a really good race again they will have a lot of fun with her."

With three early scratchings, Parisest Magic will face 10 rivals including the Chris Waller-trained trio of Tron Bolt, Nations League and Lindermann's half-brother Iommi.
